Darts averages and stats

Your average includes misses and busts.

Points per dart

Divide your points by the darts you threw. 240 points in 12 darts is 20 per dart.

A bust adds zero points. The darts still count. Leaving those turns out would make your average look better than you actually played.

Three-dart average

Multiply your points per dart by three. At 20 per dart, your three-dart average is 60.

Use the number of darts, not just the number of turns. Some turns end early. If you check out with your first dart, you only threw one.

Tons and 180s

A visit of 100 or more is a ton. Three treble 20s make a 180. To get a rate, divide those visits by all your completed visits.

A high ton rate can tell you you’re scoring well. It doesn’t tell you how many doubles you missed at the end.

What about checkout percentage?

You need to count the darts you threw at a finishing double. A visit total can’t tell you that. A 40-point turn might be a missed checkout or just part of the way down from 501.

Jesters Sports doesn’t record attempts at a double yet, so it doesn’t give you a checkout percentage. It also won’t guess which trebles you hit from a total.

Comparing legs

Compare the same format over several legs. Look at the average, how many darts went into it, and how often you busted. One good visit won’t tell you much about your week.
