Choosing a free scorekeeping app

Published by Jesters Sports, maker of BagTrax. Comparisons use the vendors’ public documentation, checked October 13, 2026.

Check the free plan against a complete evening of play. Starting a game for free tells you little about saving it, keeping player history, or running the next event.

Read the limits that affect your group

Scoreholio’s plan comparison lists a free Social tier with event limits. DartCounter separates free use from its paid Ultimate features. Neither example means every feature you see in a demo is included at no cost.

Avoid choosing from an old price roundup. Open the vendor’s current plan page and write down the tier, limits, and date you checked. In-app purchases and organizer subscriptions can cover different people.

Try a correction and a restart

Enter a wrong score, undo it, and continue. Close the app after a completed game and reopen it. Look for the result under the right players. If you need another device, check whether the same record is available there.

For outdoor play, use the actual phone and connection you expect at the venue. Try the offline check before relying on a claimed offline mode.

Keep a small event simple

A printed round-robin schedule and a pen may cover a six-team afternoon. Use a free app when it saves you work your group actually has: scoring, pairings, standings, or finding old results.
