Cornhole scorekeeping without a reliable connection

Test your scorer in airplane mode before taking it somewhere with poor reception. An app opening from the home screen doesn’t prove it can start a game, save rounds, or recover after you close it.

Try the whole game

Use a practice game with clearly named test players. Keep it out of any league standings.

  1. While connected, finish setup and load anything the app requires.
  2. Turn on airplane mode, then confirm Wi-Fi is off too.
  3. Start a new game. If that fails, record that setup requires a connection.
  4. Enter rounds of 7–4 and 2–6. The game score should now be 3–4 under standard cancellation.
  5. Undo the second round and enter it again.
  6. Close and reopen the app. Check players, score, and round history.
  7. Finish the game, reconnect, and check for missing or duplicated results.

Use the same device you’ll bring to the event. Browser storage, app versions, and device settings can affect what remains after a restart.

Shared screens need another check

If a second device displays the score, test it separately. Local scoring and synchronizing to another phone are different requirements. Decide which device owns the accepted result while the connection is down.

Don’t have two people independently recreate the same game after a disconnection. Reconcile the round history first, then enter only what is missing.

Carry a paper fallback

Write both teams’ raw round scores in two columns and the running game score beside them. Raw scores let you check cancellation and recover the order of play. A note saying only “we won 21–16” won’t reconstruct the rounds.

This is a verification procedure for whichever scorer you choose. It is not an offline guarantee for the new BagTrax app. Retest after an app update or a device change before relying on it for a scheduled event.
