Tell the app whether you are scheduling teams or individual players. A fixed-pair round robin keeps partners together. A rotating-partner session needs a player schedule and individual results. The same six names can produce very different events.
Two organizer tools to check
Swish documents fixed-partner and rotating-partner round robins. Pickleheads Pro offers round-robin and other organized-play tools. Put your own roster into each trial before choosing.
For either product, confirm the event format, current plan, and any player signup requirements directly. Published feature lists are the basis for this shortlist; we haven’t timed these apps at a live event.
Use an awkward roster
Try ten players on two courts. Eight can play at once, so two must sit out. Inspect the full schedule and count each player’s games and byes. A schedule that fills every court can still give one player too much bench time.
Next, remove a player after round two. Check whether you can preserve completed results while rebuilding future pairings. Find out who has to approve the change and what players see on their phones.
For rotating partners, count repeated partnerships and repeated opponents separately. With limited courts and an uneven roster, some repeats may be unavoidable. Decide which kind of repeat your group cares about most.
Agree on standings
Publish the ranking method before play. Wins, point differential, and points scored can order players differently. If people play different numbers of games, raw totals can reward attendance rather than performance.
Record these decisions on the event page:
- Fixed pairs or rotating partners.
- Number of rounds and games per player.
- Game target and any time limit.
- Bye treatment and tiebreak order.
- How players report a wrong result.
For a small group, our eight-player rotation provides a schedule you can use on paper. It gives everyone three games with three different partners.
