For a detailed practice log, look at PinPal. For a casual game where you want to calculate frames yourself, a ten-pin scorer may be enough. A season record needs somewhere to keep games, series, and the league’s accepted results.
Recording what you left
PinPal’s developer listing describes pin selection, ball-score entry, and records for league, tournament, and open bowling. It also lists spare-conversion statistics.
Decide how much you will enter after every shot. Pin-level records can help you spot a recurring leave, but only if you keep recording it. Someone who enters only final game totals should compare apps on finding old games, editing mistakes, and exporting records.
Try a practice game before paying for a season’s worth of tracking. Enter an open frame, a spare, and consecutive strikes. Check whether you can correct the first ball without rebuilding the entire game.
Check the scoring
A strike followed by 7 and 2 makes the strike frame worth 19. A 7-spare followed by a 6 makes the spare frame worth 16. Until those next balls are known, a scorer should make the pending bonus understandable.
Then try the tenth frame: strike, strike, 7 totals 27 for that frame. The fill balls complete the tenth; they don’t create an eleventh frame. Use our bowling scoring guide if you want to check a full example.
League records
Keep scratch scores separate from handicap totals. Your league’s rules determine the handicap calculation and accepted average; a personal tracker doesn’t replace the official record.
Jesters Sports has a scratch ten-pin scorer. It doesn’t cover handicaps, team formats, solo practice, or series. If you need any of those tonight, choose an available tracker that explicitly supports them.
